Adventure in Egypt

Singapore Hotel - Many tourists spend their vacations in Egypt rushing from one popular tourist destination like the Giza Necropolis to another. They go see the attractions often with a sense of urgency, only pausing long enough to take snapshots for remembrance and to half-heartedly learn bits about Egypt’s long history.

Singapore Hotel - Nobody could blame them really. The country is known for its many royal tombs and ancient ruins. The Valley of the Kings alone has 63 tombs and the country has a number of vast necropoleis or cemeteries and several famous ruins. People want to see as much of these historical places as they can to really experience and somehow be a part of Egypt and its amazing history.

There are other ways, however, to experience and get to know the country. Today, more and more people are going to Egypt to soak in its rich history in a different, more adventurous way.

Egypt has always been depicted in films and literature as the land of mystery and intrigue, of pharaohs and pyramids, and of great treasures and bloodcurdling curses so there is no better place to off on an adventure in. With the country’s natural and manmade resources aplenty, the possibilities are endless.

Several local travel companies all over Egypt have come up and are offering different packages that promise unique, exciting and sometimes tailor-made experiences for the more daring and adventurous visitors.

The morecommon, albeit less thrilling, activities include hot air balloon rides that offer tourists breathtaking aerial views of the pyramids and the ancient Egyptian temples; birding or bird-watching; snorkeling and scuba diving in the Red Sea; and the more romantic felucca sailing down the Nile River whose banks are not only full of crocodiles and hippos but also decorated with the most incredible structures reminiscent of Egypt’s glorious past.

A number of more exciting activities are offeredto the braver and bolder. The most popular of these is going off on a camel trek or a jeep safari expedition across Egypt’s deserts. Travel companies in Egypt offer desert safari adventures for individuals or groups.

These safari packages often come with an expert guide or guides, sufficient food and drinks, hours of riding through the desert, and several nights of camping and sleeping under the stars.

Trekking through one of the deserts alone is already an adventure as people get the chance to catch glimpses of thedesert wildlife and wonder at the beautiful monoliths that took hundreds of years to form. But some packages also includestopovers at several of Egypt’s popularhistorical attractions like the Great Pyramid of Giza or the rock temples in Abu Simbel while some offer visits toEgypt’s beautiful lush oases and to remote places like the mysterious Silica Glass Field.

Walking around and discovering Egypt’s ancient temples, tombs and pyramids is a great way to get to know the country and its fascinating history but there are alternatives for the bolder and more adventurous tourists to see and experience the country.
